Obituary:
Upland – Thomas Jordon Cason “Tom”,80, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ at 8:35 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010. surrounded by his loving family at his home in Upland, IN. He fought a courageous battle with cancer.
Tom was born August 16, 1929 in Arkansas the son of the late Joseph Cason and The late Carrie (Garrett) Cason.
Tom married Francis (Cook) Cason on Feb. 26, 1983 in The First Church of The Nazarene in Hartford City.
Tom retired from Taylor University in 1998 after working 40 years in the food service. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and served from 1951 to 1953. Tom was an active member of the Hartford City First Church of The Nazarene where he had served as a deacon, trustee, bus driver and chairman of the building and grounds Committee. Tom touched many lives and was known for his creative wedding cakes and catering. He also helped many people with his handyman abilities. Tom was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Tom will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 27 years, Francis (Cook) Cason of Upland; 4 sons, Gary (Wife – Julie) Cason of Eaton, David Cason of Jonesboro, Bruce (Wife – Rita) Cason of Muncie, Jeffery Gephart of Montpelier; 4 daughters, Debra (Husband – John) Spitler of North Charleston, S.C., Jackie (Husband – Charles) Edwards of Hartford City, Rita Sharpe (Husband – Steve) Bennett of Pennville, Rebecca (Husband – Bill) Pauley of Hartford City; one sister, Sarah Stewart of Minocqua, Wisconsin; 23 Grand Children, 17 Great Grand Children and one great great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, His first wife Peggy (Brock)Cason who died in 1973; son Thomas Eugene “Gene” Cason; daughter-in-law Billie (Becktell) Cason and one brother William Cason.
Funeral services for Tom will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the Hartford City First Church of The Nazarene, 1402 West Water St. Hartford City, Indiana 48348 with Rev. Steve High and Rev. Richard Dickson officiating, burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
Friends may visit Tuesday, July 13, 2010 from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 No. High St., Hartford City, Indiana 47348 and on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 from 10 to 11 a.m. at The Hartford City First Church of The Nazarene.

Memorial may be made to the Mission Fund of the First Church of The Nazarene.
