Obituary:
HARTFORD CITY – Homer Francis McVicker, 93, died 8:55 p.m. Saturday, July 3, 2010 at the Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
Homer was born May 28, 1917 in Jump River, Wisconsin to the late Edgar McVicker and the late Florence (Brooks) McVicker.
Homer married Phyllis G. (Fear) McVicker on June 1, 1946 at the Hartford City Wesleyan Church in Hartford City, IN.
Homer had moved from Wisconsin to Blackford Co. in 1940 and later moved to Bluffton several years ago to be closer to their daughter Kathleen Miller and family.
He was a member of the Hartford City Wesleyan Church where he had been a former Church trustee and had been attending the Liberty Center United Methodist Church while living in Bluffton, Ind.
He had retired in 1980 as a self employed auto body man, he had owned and operated the McVicker Auto Body Shop in Hartford City. Homer had formally worked for Crankshaw Motors, Trauring Motors and had run several auto body shops in the area.
Homer was an avid Fisherman.
Homer will be sadly missed by his wife of 64 Years, Phyllis G. (Fear) McVicker of Bluffton; daughter, Kathleen A. (Husband – John W.) Miller of Bluffton; son, Dave E. (Wife – Patti) McVicker of Hartford City; 3 grandchildren, Casey (Wife – Andrea) McVicker, Sarah (Husband – Kyle) Swift, Melissa (Husband – Juan) Lozoya; 2 step grandchildren, Bryan (wife – Lynette) Miller and Jana (husband – Nick) Bishop; 3 great grandchildren, Silas McVicker, Nathan Lozoya, Nicholas Lozoya; 3 step great grandchildren, Keely Miller, Keegan Miller and Sawyer Miller; sister Thelma Poulda.
He was preceded in death in by his parents by one brother, Earl McVicker and sister, Ruth Diamond.
Funeral Services for Homer will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Hartford City Wesleyan Church, 221 North Cherry Street, Hartford City, IN. 47348 with Rev. Thomas Parsons, Rev. Devin Cook and Rev. E.R. Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Hill Cemetery, Pennville, IN.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 7, 2010 from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 North High St., Hartford City, IN. and on Thursday, July 8, 2010 one hour before the 10:00 a.m. service at the Hartford City Wesleyan Church, 221 North Cherry Street, Hartford City, IN.
