Obituary:
HARTFORD CITY – Jerry Edwin Bantz, 71, died at 4:15 a.m. Sunday, June 27, 2010 at Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was born on March 5, 1939 in Blackford County to the late Myron Bantz and the late Lavada (Boots) Bantz.
Jerry graduated from Hartford City High School in 1957. He served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1961.
He married Joyce Anne (Pulley) Bantz on June 17, 1961 in Montpelier, Indiana. She precedes him in death.
Jerry retired from the United States Post Office after 26 years of service. Sixteen years of his career was spent in Muncie and the last ten years of his career was spent in Hartford City.
He visited the Marion V.A. on a regular bases. Jerry loved sports including baseball, basketball and motor sports, he read western novels, was a Nascar Fan, liked blues music and gardening. He collected coins and old pictures of outhouses.
Jerry will be sadly missed by his children, Julia A. (husband, Jesse) Twibell; son, Jeffry E. Bantz (companion, Carol Kessler); grandchildren, Shad McDaniel, Shasta McDaniel, Lydia Staker, Clark Staker, Justin Bantz and Laurelann Staker; great-grandchildren, Lilly, Adri, Maverick, Alivia, Ava and Christian; brother, Hank “Henry” Daniel (wife, Linda) Bantz of Indianapolis.
Graveside Funeral service for Jerry will be at 12 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Asbury Cemetery located 2 miles north of State Road #18 on State Road #3 in Wells County.
