Name: Viola Purtee Date: Jan 13, 1925  -  Feb 28, 2010 Obituary: MARION – Viola “Vi” E. Purtee, 85, died at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne. She was born on January 13, 1925 in Hartford City to the late James Martin Van Gordon and the late Zona Ann (Edwards) Van Gordon. Viola graduated from Eaton High School in 1943. She retired from RCA in Marion in 1988 after 30 years of service. Viola was a member of RCA Sympathy Club and enjoyed gardening, flowers, Euchre, bowling and loved to work in her yard. She will be sadly missed by her sons Brent Purtee of Marion; Ronald E. “Buster” (Wife-Paulette E.) Purtee of Fairmount; her grandchildren, Scott A. (wife, Tracy) Purtee, Tiffany (Husband-Todd) Vogts; 4 great-grandchildren; companion, Karl Parsons of Fairmount; brothers, James L. (wife, Carolyn) Van Gordon of Hartford City; Fred (wife, Florence) Van Gordon of Milford, Mich.; Robert “Bob” (wife, Betty) Van Gordon of Montpelier; Harold (wife, Marilyn) Van Gordon of Upland; Charles “Chuck” (wife, Sue) Van Gordon of Springfield, Ohio; sister Vivian (husband, Val John) Anderson of Marion; Chrystal “Chris” (husband, Jerry) Garrett of Marion; and several nieces and nephews. Viola is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Henry Van Gordon, Roscoe C. Van Gordon and Arlo “Ed” Van Gordon. Visitation for Viola will be 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 and 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday March 4, 2010 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City. Funeral service for Viola will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday March 4, 2010 at Keplinger Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hartford City Cemetery.
