Name: Mary Garrett Date: Jan 09, 1924  -  Jan 27, 2010 Obituary: HARTFORD CITY – Mary Alice Garrett, 86, died at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at her residence. She was born on January 9, 1924 in Chicago to the late Matthew Orr and the late Alma (Kins) Orr-Kortabien. She married Carl Walter Garrett on January 10, 1945 in Chicago. He precedes her in death on August 2, 2001. Mary was a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Hartford City, the Kitchen Chemist Home Economics Club, the Purdue Extension of Blackford County and Elks Ladies Auxiliary in Pennsylvania. She formerly worked for Wells LaMott Glove Company in Chicago. Mary will be sadly missed by her son, Patrick A. Garrett of Shamrock Lakes; daughters, Carol Elizabeth Garrett of Santa Cruz, Calif.; Alicia R. Van Gordon of Indianapolis; Vera Ann (husband, Robert) Wyatt of Ft. Wayne; Ethel Mae Fick of Ft. Wayne; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; step-brothers, Stuart (wife, Alice) Kortabien of Chicago; Bruce Kortabien of Calif.; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her parents, her husband and her son, James C. Garrett. Mary will be cremated and there will be a private family Memorial Service at a later date.
